Following on from promotion at the Monaco Yacht Show one month ago, we will be targeting the world cruising superyachts to take the journey from the USA through the Panama Canal South to Tahiti, then onto our Great Barrier Reef region.
We will be featuring all the details on the Great Reef Census project with Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef – giving superyachts a world-first opportunity to be a part of the important research and preservations efforts for the Great Barrier Reef.
Andy Ridley of Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef said, “Surveying the broader state of the Reef is an immense task, which requires mobilisation of resources on a scale never seen before. Superyachts are in a unique position to access thupere more remote reefs and to help us gather vital data on their status. Every superyacht can act as a research vessel, and every visitor a citizen scientist ready to collect vital data.”
Through partnership across business, tech and media, we will inspire and engage a global audience who can be part of the action and participate in the census online. By engaging the world in the Great Reef Census we can help identify the key source reefs supporting new coral life and showcase how Citizens across the world are coming together to help preserve this natural icon.
Current snorkel and dive footage of healthy reef will also feature at the Australia stand, showing a preview of the spectacular experiences to be had. We will also have a brand new edition of the Great Barrier Reef Superyacht Guide in circulation with comprehensive information for prospective clients wishing to visit our unique part of the world featuring all details of the Super Yacht Group Great Barrier Reef membership.
“What becomes clear when we are working internationally is the value of collaboration, and this is where our connection with our neighbours in Indonesia, PNG, Fiji, Tahiti, Vanuatu, etc, is an important advantage,” Carrie Carter, the group Chair said. “As a group we can encourage vessels to take the long voyage to visit and explore the entire South Pacific.”
Group manager, Joanne Drake has many appointments scheduled during the show to pass on all of our regions capabilities – this will include the new 1120t Mobile Boat Hoist at BSE, and authentic destination experiences to owners, captains, crew, charter agents and media. Ms Drake is privileged to have been invited to represent the Great Barrier Reef region on a USSA featured discussion panel during the show focusing on “The Pacific – Making your Client’s Bucket List a reality” to an audience of agents, captains, crew, owners and media.
”There are so many reasons why superyachts are falling in love with this area and consistently extending their stay – we invite all superyachts to come and experience the true splendour, vibrancy and diversity of our Great Barrier Reef and play a part in the future protection and research of our beautiful natural assets.” Ms Drake said, “We know that there are a great number of international vessels making the journey down South for the Olympics in Japan in 2020 and the America’s Cup in New Zealand in 2021 and there is no better time for us to share our “one and only” experiences with them in continuation of their Pacific itinerary.”
We will be covering as much ground as possible working to educate the target audience in attendance that the South Pacific is worth committing a number of years toward to discover the cruising grounds that will serve to provide their most indelible memories.
