The Great Barrier Reef International Marine College (GBRIMC), in partnership with TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275), offers maritime training in accordance with regulatory requirements and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

Located in Cairns – North Queensland, Australia – our modern training facility offers a comprehensive range of training qualifications and certificates. Training complies with the requirements of the International Maritime Organisation Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (IMO STCW).

Training can be tailored to suit individual or group requirements and delivered on-site at our custom-built facilities or off-site at an agreed location.

Facilities:
Full mission bridge simulator (Kongsberg Polaris)
STCW and DNV compliant. The bridge is equipped with Electronic Chart Display (ECDIS), AIS, radar and the controls required to operate a range of propulsion and steering systems. A comprehensive library of ships and port area models are available.

Desktop Simulators:The eight desktop simulator stations are operated from a separate instructor station utilising the same Kongsberg system. Each simulator has single channel visuals, ECDIS, Radar, AIS and electronic replication of the standard controls andinstrumentation found on a ship’s bridge.

Multi-purpose Emergency Response Training Simulator:This “ship ashore” facility provides a variety of simulated experiences including real time fire-fighting, damage control andemergency response training.

On-site Immersion pool:Used for sea survival training, measures 15m by 10m and is 4m deep.
